Hastings Prince Edward Public Health has announced a new case of COVID-19.
In a separate statement today, Dr. Ann Marie Vaughan, President and CEO of Loyalist College, announced that a student tested positive while in quarantine after arriving in Canada.
The individual has not been on campus.
She said that the risk to the campus community is “very low.”
“Public Health will be notifying any individuals who have been in contact with the student. These individuals would have observed safety protocols such as social distancing and wearing a face mask, so they would be considered low risk,” she said.
The student is reportedly asymptomatic.
There are currently five active cases of COVID-19 in the Quinte region.
HPEPH has identified a total of 53 cases since the start of the pandemic.
