Loyalist College will be the site of a new COVID-19 vaccination centre starting Monday.
The gym and dining hall on campus has been transformed into a new clinic.
Dr. Ann Marie Vaughan, Loyalist College President and CEO, said in a statement to the College community today that this is an initiative with Hastings Prince Edward Public Health.
The clinic will only be offering vaccines right now to high-risk health care workers, as well as staff and caregivers working in long-term care homes. This is apart of Phase One of the province’s vaccine rollout plan.
“From there we will then immunize other populations listed in Phase One, such as individuals 80 years and over. Once the provincial criteria expands and vaccine availability increases, we hope to conduct larger clinics,” said Vaughan.
Public Health is reaching out directly to those who are currently eligible to receive the vaccine.
Students and staff who have been deemed essential and allowed to come to campus are being encouraged to avoid using P5 and P6 parking lots as of Monday. Parking lots will also be not designated between student and staff areas.
While visitors come in, there will be no impact to the food services area.
