The Trenton Golden Hawks have announced the results of their Snowbirds jersey auction.
Trenton wore the special Snowbirds jersey last fall, during an exhibition game in honour of Captain Jennifer Casey. The late Trenton resident died in May after a Snowbird’s plane she was travelling in as apart of “Operation Inspiration” crashed in British Columbia.
The game was apart of the Hasty P’s series against the Wellington Dukes.
Trenton announced today that by auctioning off the game-worn jerseys, 100 other snowbirds jerseys, and team photos, they raised $15,000 for Soldier On.
The Casey family selected Soldier On, which is apart of Support Our Troops.
“We are incredibly appreciative and moved by this gesture by the Trenton Golden Hawks and those who generously purchased jerseys. The Snowbird’s Operation Inspiration was intended to encouraged Canadians that better times lie ahead. We are honoured and touched by the ongoing support that our country continues to show towards our Canadian Armed Forces community throughout this pandemic. This donation will undoubtedly make a difference in the lives of our ill and injured members,” said Scott Johnson, Associate Vice President of Corporate Development for Support Our Troops.
