From a listener to now on the station, Melted Fro’s new track is a welcome addition as we continue to search for more Canadian independent bands.
Kayne Calder founded the blues alternative rock back in 2013, and it’s been a project that he’s been working on off and on.
“I’ve had other musicians play in the band, but now I’ve just come back to the project so I actually recorded everything on this song myself,” said Calder in an interview with 91X this week.
He has a home studio in Peterborough and has shifted from recording on Garage band, to now Logic software. Aside from music, he works as a logger.
Melted Fro’s latest single “The Gimmies” will be released on all platforms Saturday. When asked about how he starts writing a song,
“Alot of the time I’ll come up with an idea when I’m driving, I’ll have lyrics. Once I get everything together, it happens. I’ll come up with a guitar riff or lyrics first.”
Keep an eye out for Melted Fro. He hopes to have an EP or album out later this year, adding that he will try to rough track at home and look for a studio to go to maybe in Toronto.
What else is he listening to? He says he’s going back to older music. Right now The Allman Brothers Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Queens of the Stone Age.
