Artist: The Wilderness
Single: Pick You Up
From: Kingston, Ontario
This single released in June, is from a band that is just as diverse in the Kingston music scene, as the country each band member represents. British musician Jonas Lewis-Anthony moved to Kingston to pursue a music career, and for a while performed acoustic sets under the name “Wendigo Jo.”He was also in a band at one point called “The Four Roads.” In 2015 he was working at Musiikki café in Kingston when drummer Henry Lawrence and guitarist/vocalist Sacha Leah happened to be playing as apart an open-mic night. He asked to jam, and that was it. From then on, the six-piece band has had hints of Bruce Springsteen in their music, as well as The National, and The Glorious Sons. Their EP, “Seminary Road” was released in 2018, followed by singles like “Virginia Sapphire,” and “Pick You Up.”
Their next single called “If I Have To Die” will be out August 7.
They announced earlier this month, that their full-length studio debut, “Until Tomorrow” will be released on August 21. The album release is scheduled to be held that day at MacKinnon Brewery. Then the next day they will be one of the opening acts for Miss Emily , as she performs at the Mustang Drive-In, located in Bloomfield.
