It’s been ten years since Damon Albarn (Blur) released “Plastic Trees” under the Gorillaz project.
The British group started in 1998 and consists of Jamie Hewlett and Remi Kabaka Jr. They are known for pushing electronic sounds and detail on their animated videos.
In an interview with RADIO.com, Albarn is teasing that he’s been writing lots of songs for a “Plastic Trees” follow-up.
“To somehow help our climate is really necessary. So maybe I need to revisit it, really. I don’t think we can ever leave Plastic Beach. I’d like to just have an album called Clean Beach, but at the moment it’s still Plastic Beach. So Plastic Beach 2 is a nice idea for me creatively but it’s also really depressing… but it’s necessary,” said Albarn.
He’s revealed so far that they have signed on to work on season two of Song Machine Project. This is suppose to be done while they make a film. Gorillaz just released the first season of Song Machine Project last week. It features a collection of singles with a variety of guests, including Beck, Elton John, Unknown Mortal Orchestra.
