This is the latest single climbing up the charts for Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney. The song was just added to the 91X New Rock 30 countdown over the weekend.
Auerbach was inspired by Delta blues musician Jessie Mae Hemphill. She wrote in song in the 1980s called “Eagle Bird” after seeing an eagle lamp as she was packing for a trip.
This version by The Black Keys is more about comparing two lovers to an eagle, and symbols of strength.
