This Tuesday, the Belleville Salvation Army on Pinnacle Street is now adjusting towards public food programs, but social distancing restrictions means the very busy warm room will not open on schedule.
The store hasn’t been open since March and will closed permanently to focus more on food programs, including the food bank.
“The Salvation Army in Belleville is proud of the role its thrift store has played for many years and we are thankful to our community, dedicated employees and volunteers for their contributions,” Maj. Catherine Brown-Ratcliffe said in a news release.
Food program’s are now being provided on a takeout basis, but eventually they will use the former store space to have short stays for hot meals.
The Salvation Army will soon begin its annual Christmas campaigns. Brown-Ratcliffe said donations have, thankfully, been made throughout the year, but this year’s Christmas fundraising will be especially important.
