
The Tweedsmuir Hotel was engulfed in flames by the time fire crews arrived around 6 am this morning.
The OPP say that no injuries were reported. The Fire Marshall’s office is being called in. There is no damage estimated at this time.
Police are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact Central Hastings OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or 613-473-4234.
Here’s the update issued by Mayor Jo-Anne Albert:
- Victoria Street is closed from River Street to Bridge Street West.
- Detour routes are setup on Bridge Street West and River Street West for those travelling through town.
- OPP are rerouting transport traffic at the 401 and Highway 7 entrances to Highway 37
- Any residents with breathing issues are asked to stay indoors as there is much smoke from the blaze.
- Any onlookers are being asked to stay back from the scene.
Any residents who live close to the site and have any concerns or are experiencing any flooding, the Lions Hall has been opened as a shelter site. There will be water available. Anyone who has been evacuated must register at the Lions Hall to ensure all residents are accounted for.
The Municipal Council meeting scheduled for today has been cancelled.
