
Hastings Prince Edward Public Health is reporting 16 new cases of COVID-19 today. Staff say that 12 of the new cases are close-contacts, one of which is related to an outbreak.
There are now a total of 84 active COVID-19 cases, the highest number of active infections recorded since the start of the pandemic.
- 37 active cases in Belleville
- 24 active cases in Quinte West
- 10 active cases in Central Hastings
- 7 active cases in Tyendinaga & Deseronto region
- 5 active cases in Prince Edward County
- 1 active case in North Hastings
One person is in hospital and another is in ICU. The health unit has also announced a new outbreak at the City Belle Pub in Belleville. There have been a total of three individuals that have tested positive for the virus. Anyone that has visited the pub between March 20 and March 29 is being asked to get tested as they may have had low risk exposure. Health officials also note that if anyone develops symptoms after they receive a negative test, they should get re-tested.
The outbreak at a workplace in Trenton continues.
Staff also announced today another 10 additional variants of concern for a total of 30 that have been identified to date.
A total of 31,239 vaccines have been administered in the two counties, with 1,933 people fully vaccinated.
The province will go back into an emergency-brake shutdown on Saturday.
