Hastings Prince Edward Public Health is reporting 17 new COVID-19 cases today, with 13 more recoveries.
There are now a total of 160 active cases overall in the two counties.
Public Health notes that of the new cases reported today, nine of them are close contacts, and origin of the eight others are still pending. There are ten people with COVID-19 in hospital, three in ICU and one on a ventilator.
Staff say that eight more variants of concern have been identified to bring the total number up to 149, detected since the start of the pandemic. The seven day case rate in the region per 100,000 people is 73.6.
The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit has revised their numbers since their last report on Saturday. Staff say that there are 21 new cases of the virus in Northumberland County today. That brings the county’s total to 99 active infections.
Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington Public Health is only reporting three new cases of the virus today. A low number that has not been seen for quite some time in the broader region.
KFLA is reporting a total of 131 active COVID-19 cases.
Ontario announced that all elementary and secondary students will be moving to online learning only after the April break.
