Hastings Prince Edward Public Health is reporting nine new COVID-19 cases today, and ten recoveries.
There are now a total of 76 active cases.
Health officials noted this afternoon, that 35 per cent (28) of the active cases are among individuals age 30 and young.
Staff say that investigations reveal that many continue to socialize with others and have “unnecessary close contacts” with people outside of their immediate households.
Officials continue to urge youth that although it’s tough right now, the sooner the case numbers drop, the sooner we can all ease restrictions.
“Youth and young adults may experience very mild symptoms of the virus. All individuals are reminded to monitor for symptoms and get tested for COVID-19, even if symptoms are very mild such as a runny/stuffy nose. Symptom monitoring, testing, and avoiding close contact with others outside your household (even when feeling well) is essential to stop the spread of COVID-19 in our region and protect those who are at risk of serious illness and hospitalization,” added the health unit.
Hastings Prince Edward Public Health’s dashboard also reveals today that 17 local people with COVID-19 are in hospital, with eight in ICU, and four on a ventilator.
Staff say that ten more variants of concern have also been added to today’s total, for a total of 275 overall.
Quinte Health Care will be providing an update on the situation tomorrow afternoon during a news conference.
A total of 63,206 vaccines have been administered with 3,962 people fully vaccinated. Overall, 31 per cent of the local population has received a first dose of a vaccine.
Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington Public Health is reporting 9 new cases of COVID-19 today, for a total of 82 active cases. There are three local people with the virus being treated in hospital, with two in ICU and one on a ventilator.
KFLA also announced today that a passenger on Kingston Transit, who was on several routes, has now tested positive.
Those who travelled on the following routes, are considered to have low risk exposure, but are being asked to monitor for symptoms.
- Thursday, April 15: Route 7 – Departing Compton Street/Wilson Street at 1:35 p.m., arriving at Cataraqui Centre transfer point at 2:00 p.m.
- Wednesday, April 21: Route 7 – Departing Compton Street/Wilson Street at 8:35 a.m., arriving Cataraqui Centre 9:00 a.m.
- Wednesday, April 21: Route 7 – Departing Cataraqui Centre transfer point at 3:30 p.m., arriving at Compton Street/Wilson Street at 3:55 p.m.
- Friday, April 23: Route 16 – Departing Kingston Centre transfer point at 12:00 p.m., arriving Compton Street/Wilson Street at 12:20 p.m.
- Saturday, April 24: Route 1 – Departing at Compton Street/Wilson Street at 12:20 p.m., arriving at St. Lawrence College at 1 p.m.
KFL&A Public Health is unable to identify all riders on these routes and is issuing a public notice to assist with contact tracing.
The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit is reporting a dozen new cases of COVID-19 in Northumberland County. That brings the county to a total of 46 active cases.
