Loyalist College will not be the only place where residents in Belleville will be able to get their COVID-19 vaccine going forward.
Hastings Prince Edward Public Health has announced that the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre will be the site of a new vaccine clinic as of May 31st.
The clinic will be in the Family Dental Centre.
The City says that it will be operated by public health using the new “Hockey Hub model.”
People will remain seated in one place for both their shot and observation, instead of moving to another area within the facility towards the end of their visit.
“Using this model, more tasks can be completed by non-medical staff, which ensures clinical resources are fully dedicated to vaccinating residents. The improved efficiency of this stream-lined model can result in up to 2,500 vaccinations daily at the site, dependent on vaccine allocations and availability,” said the City in a statement today.
Mayor Mitch Panciuk adds the planning for this vaccination centre has been happening for months.
“Throughout the pandemic we have tried to assist residents in every possible way and this collaboration with HPEPH is yet another example of the truly amazing things that can be accomplished when we work together,” said Panciuk.
The Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre is located in the north end of Belleville, on Cannifton Road.
Parking if you are arriving for your vaccine:
- Residents will be directed to use the south entrance to the QSWC at the lights on Cannifton Road, follow the signs to the FDC Arena clinic, and park in Lot D. They will enter and exit the clinic through the FDC arena doors on the south side of the building to ensure direct access and minimal contact with others.
- In addition, the City has arranged for city bus route three to stop directly outside the FDC entrance to ensure convenience for those who require public transportation.
Please do not contact the City of Belleville or HPEPH to book appointments. All appointments must be made through the provincial booking system at Ontario.ca/bookvaccine or by calling 1-833-943-3900. Eligible individuals who are unable to access/book a vaccination appointment can register on HPEPH’s standby list.
