You’ll have to plan ahead a little more this summer when heading to the beach this year.
Wellington Beach:
Prince Edward County has decided that there will be a $10 fee per person, if you want to use Wellington Beach on Saturday, Sundays and holidays. Residents will be able to apply for a free beach pass through the municipality.
This is being done in an effort to help with crowds, and continue to support the amenities in the area.
You won’t need to book a spot ahead of time, but the capacity will be 350 people this year.
Cobourg Beach:
The Town of Cobourg has decided to only open Victoria Beach in downtown Cobourg on the weekdays this summer.
This policy will start as of today, in an effort to avoid the crowds that were seen last year. The maximum beach occupancy will 1,200 people.
Ontario Parks:
Over 100 provincial parks will be free for day-use during the weekdays, in an effort to help everyone get out and enjoy the outdoors.
Those who wish to get in for free for the day, will be able to do so from Monday to Thursday.
The new rule takes place from June 7th and runs till September 2nd.
All visitors who wish to get in for the day will have to apply for a day pass up to five days before their visit. This applies to 17 provincial parks, including Sandbanks and North Beach in Prince Edward County, as well as Presqu’ile Provincial Park in Brighton.

Overnight visits will resume once the province’s stay-at-home order is lifted.
