Lower Trent Conservation has announced that the area is now under a Level 1 Low Water alert.
The minor drought has been declared as the area continues to see a lack of rain from Grafton to Quinte West, and from Lake Ontario to Rice Lake.
Staff are now encouraging all residents to reduce their water usage by 10 per cent, and try to conserve as much as possible.
Environment Canada says that 112 millimeters of rain fell in Trenton between March and May 3rd. That’s about 51 per cent of the normal amount we expect to see this time of year.
