Rapid COVID-19 tests have arrived in Prince Edward County.
The local Chamber of Commerce is involved in an innovative with the province and other chambers across Ontario.
Free rapid tests are available to any small and medium-sized business, with 150 employees or less, operating in the county.
“Chambers of commerce and boards of trade have been indispensable resources in their communities since the onset
of the COVID-19 crisis. Public health and the health of our economy are interdependent. That is why our chamber is
proud to distribute rapid tests to small businesses in The County. We hope that through this program, we will be able
to curb the spread and reopen our local economy safely,” said Lesley Lavender from the Chamber.
The goal of the program is to offer another tool for businesses to identify people who may be asymptomatic, in an effort to keep everyone safe.
Those who test positive or inconclusive will be required to get a PCR test.
Businesses who wish to access the free kits are encouraged to contact their local chamber.
Prince Edward County’s Chamber of Commerce has about 9,600 kits ordered and pick up will be scheduled at the Wellington arena.
