
Hastings Prince Edward Public Health is again reporting no new cases of COVID-19.
The regions continues to have six active cases, with one person still in hospital.
Local health officials say that 70 per cent of residents have had one vaccine dose, while 15 per cent are now fully protected.
The province is in a race to get more vaccines into arms, as the Delta variant continue to cause concern. Ontario announced today that they will be offering accelerated second COVID-19 doses.
- Anyone who had their first dose of an mRNA vaccine on or before May 9th, can book their second shot as of Monday.
- Those living in 10 Delta hot spots and had their first dose on or before May 30th, can book their second shot on Wednesday. The regions on this list include Toronto, Hamilton, Durham, and Waterloo.
- Everyone in the province who received their first shot of a vaccine on or before May 10th, can book their second shot as early as June 28.
- Those who had their first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine are also eligible to receive a second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine at an interval of eight to 12 weeks, with informed consent. This can include a second dose of AstraZeneca again, or an mRNA vaccine.
Provincial health officials say that over 75 per cent of adults in Ontario have had one shot of a COVID-19 vaccine. A total of 19 per cent are fully vaccinated.
