It has been a good start to the camping and beach season locally. Just like last year, many people are rediscovering what the Quinte region has to offer.
This year, more than 100 provincial parks are free for day-use, from Monday to Thursday until September 2.
Popular parks like Sandbanks and North Beach in Prince Edward County, and Presqu’ile in Brighton, are a part of a new pilot project. Those who wish to visit are encouraged to reserve their spot online, up to five days in advance. This will not only guarantee you can get in on a particular day, but also help to prevent overcrowding and traffic issues.
There are 17 parks in total that are apart of this project.
This week, Kristen Osborne from Presqu’ile talked to us about her role and how things have been going so far. She is the Chief Park Naturalist.
MPP David Piccini also joined us. He represents the riding of Northumberland-Peterborough South and is the new Minister of Environment, Conservation, and Parks.
