The secret influence behind the Ramones Blitzkrieg Bop? It might upset some hard-cord Ramones fans, but that was likely inspired by the Bay City Rollers’ hit Saturday Night. That song of course featured the chanting of S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y…. The Ramones also wanted a song audience members could chant to. So, according to drummer Tommy Ramone, they came up with “Hey Ho, Let’s Go”. The song came out in 1976 and became a Ramones staple. Check out the video of the band performing the song at New York’s famed CBGB’s in 1977. It’s a little over two minutes of pure Ramones punk adrenaline.
