Staff with CFB Trenton have provided an update for residents, as you may have been noticing planes flying low in the area.
The base continues to remind residents that Royal Canadian Air Force aircraft fly low in designated areas throughout the year. This is due to training as well as for search and rescue missions.
Staff say that RCAF aircraft fly an average of 393 search and rescue missions each year in the region of Eastern Ontario.
Areas that you may see more activity include near CFB Trenton and Mountain View.
Here’s a map of the low-flying area.
Staff note that pilots may go as low as 200 feet above the ground, but they do so under strict rules and regulations.
Flight paths are mapped out to avoid populated areas as much as possible.
