The Municipality of Brighton has issued the following update for residents, as we mark the first day in Step 3 of the province’s re-opening plan.
The Municipality of Brighton will open to the public for selected municipal services in the following departments:
Finance/Administration:
• Front desk/reception is open and will provide walk-in service (no appointment
necessary)
• Cash, debit or cheque payments for property taxes, water billing & dog tags will be
processed.
• We recommend that you continue to use the drop box located at the main entrance to 35
Alice Street or on-line banking for tax payments.
Planning & Building / By-Law:
• Virtual consultations and meetings will continue, and the Planning Department will not be
conducting in-person meetings at this time.
• Please contact 613-475-1162 to book your appointment.
• Building inspections and By-Law enforcement operating as usual.
Office of the Clerk:
• In-person commissioning services & marriage licenses will be provided by appointment,
we continue to encourage on-line process for marriage license applications.
• Virtual Council, Committee and Public Meetings will continue until further notice.
Public Works:
• Operating business as usual.
Parks, Recreation & Facilities:
• Arena Office open commencing July 19th by appointment only (613-475-0302)
• Outdoor social gatherings and organized public events with up to 100 people with limited
exceptions;
• Indoor social gatherings and organized public events with up to 25 people;
• Indoor religious services, rites or ceremonies, including wedding services and funeral
services permitted with physical distancing;
• Indoor dining permitted with no limits on the number of patrons per table with physical
distancing and other restrictions still in effect;
• Indoor sports and recreational fitness facilities to open subject to a maximum 50 per cent
capacity of the indoor space. Capacity for indoor spectators is 50 per cent of the usual
seating capacity or 1,000 people, whichever is less. Capacity for outdoor spectators is
75 per cent of the usual seating capacity or 15,000 people, whichever is less;
• Indoor meeting and event spaces permitted to operate with physical distancing and other
restrictions still in effect and capacity limited to not exceed 50 per cent capacity or 1,000
people, (whichever is less);
Fire Department:
• The South Fire Station will be open Monday, Wednesday & Friday (8:30am-4:30pm,
closed between 12-1). Tuesday & Thursday by appointment.

Library:
• Brighton Branch open 10am – 4pm / Mon-Sat
• Codrington Branch open Tues 930-1230, Fri 5-8, Sat 11-2 and Sun 10-1 (during the market)
• As per government regulations, material no longer needs to be quarantined but will be sanitized as needed or upon request
• Browsing allowed and encouraged
• Computers, printing, scanning, copying available
• Newspapers available
• More seating areas available
• Virtual or outdoor programs will continue
• Program space remains closed but we’re working towards making it available soon
