A small group gathered at Prinzhaven Farms today. A few members of the media were there as the Prince Edward County Dairy Producers presented a generous donation of $5000 to the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundations Back the Build Campaign.
The Dairy Producers have long been known for their giving nature. AJ deBoef, chairperson for PEC Dairy Producer committee says ‘In spite of event cancelations due to COVID-19, like the annual youth hockey Milk Tournament, the PEC Dairy Producers recognize we must pivot along with the rest of the community. As a result, we have decided the best way to continue our local support at this time is to give a donation to the PECMH Foundation’s Back the Build Campaign.’
And the donation was well received. ‘We are extremely grateful to this special group of farmers for their continued support.’ Says executive director of the PECMH Foundation Shannon Coull. ‘This gift will go a long way in helping our hospitals Care Champions continue to provide exceptional care but in a new leading edge facility.’
In what has been a rough year for many farmers around Canada, Phil Prinzen says well there has been challenges from the pandemic, it has been a good year in Prince Edward County.
The donation of $5000 is being matched by the Paul B. Helliwett Foundation 2-1, for a total of $15,000. With this, the Back the build inches ever closer to its $16.5 million goal, with only about $800,000 to go!
