It’s looking a little more normal for skaters in Prince Edward County.
The municipality has started offering public skating again, for the first time since the start of the pandemic.
Public skating schedules are now up on the county’s website.
Wellington and District Community Centre [WDCC] (111 Belleville Street, Wellington)
Wednesdays, 10:30 am – noon
Fridays, 10:30 am – noon
Sundays, 8 – 9:30 am
An additional public skating session will be offered at WDCC on Sunday, December 19 from 2 – 3:30 pm.
Prince Edward Community Centre (375 Picton Main Street, Picton)
Wednesdays, 10:30 am – noon
Fridays, 10:30 am – noon
Sundays, 1 – 2:30 pm
Local hockey fans will also be able to get a warm cup of coffee and a few snacks during the Wellington Dukes games. County staff have allowed arena canteens to be back open again for junior hockey games and on weekends.
Masks still must be worn in facilities, unless you are actively participating in a sport. Visitors will be allowed to take their drinks and treats to the stands to eat.
“The health and safety of the community remains a top priority for the municipality. The County consulted with Hastings Prince Edward Public Health when putting in place protocols that ensure the public has both a safe and enjoyable experience when visiting a recreation facility,” said the municipality in a statement.
Those who enter all municipal facilities must show proof that they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
