Here is how you can help this week:
Community Care Central Hastings is seeking volunteers to deliver meals to seniors in their homes weekdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Volunteers must have their own vehicle, time commitment can be weekly, bi weekly, or monthly.
Central Hastings Support Network is currently seeking volunteers to drive clients to appointments. Locations can be both local or long distance including Kingston or Toronto. Drivers use their own vehicles and receive re-imbursement through a pre-determined fee.
Gleaners Food Bank requires volunteer drivers to assist in picking up donations from local grocery stores and community food drives. Volunteers are also required to assist with unloading, sorting and stocking inventory.
Community Care Prince Edward County is seeking reception volunteers for the office in Picton, and at the foot care clinic in Wellington. Computer experience is required. Training, orientation and support is provided. The team also requires thrift shop volunteers for their Picton store. This is a very social volunteer placement that appeals to both men and women. Online orientation is offered. Mentoring with a long-time volunteer once in the shop is provided. Time commitment is a 3-hour shift per week.
Big Brothers Big Sisters HPE is currently seeking volunteers interested in joining their Board of Directors. Members ensure the governance and direction of the agency while working with the Executive Director to grow and enhancing programming to children and youth in Hastings and Prince Edward counties. Meetings take place 8 to 10 times per year.
Belleville Quinte West Community Health Centre is a community-based primary health organization that provides a wide range of programs and services to improve the health and well- being of people who live in the community. The centre has a site in Quinte West and one in Belleville. They are looking for individuals who have an idea for an activity and are interested in gifting their time to provide programs in nutrition, physical activity or social well-being to clients.
The John Howard Society is seeking volunteers for their drop-in centre. As a volunteer, you will be required to assist staff in duties such as responding to shower and laundry requests, greeting and gathering guest information at the front entrance and maintain a relaxed approach in the drop-in environment.
VON Hastings, Northumberland, Prince Edward is looking for volunteers to provide a variety of home maintenance services to seniors in the Quinte West area. Including but not limited to snow removal, lawn care, garden/yard clean up. Odd jobs around the house. Clients are matched with workers and then worker would quote client the cost of the job requested. Client would pay worker directly.
BCT requires volunteer drivers to transport individuals in the Quinte area to medical appointments locally and long distance. These runs may also include stops for necessities of life such as drug store, groceries, bank, or post office. Mileage will be reimbursed.
Trenton MFRC is seeking volunteers to assist military families with snow removal throughout the season. Having your own equipment is not required but could be useful.
