Five long-term drinking water advisories have been lifted on the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory.
The federal government made the announcement this week in a joint statement with local Mohawk Chief R. Donald Maracle.
The advisories had been in place since 2008, and have since been lifted thanks to the water treatment plant.
The water treatment plant has helped provide clean water to roughly 280 homes, 20 semi-public buildings and 756 community members. The government says that one advisory remains in place near the public works garage.
