A founding member of the core 80’s and 90’s synth-rock band Depeche Mode has Died. Andy “Fletch” Fletcher passed away today, reportedly from natural causes. He was 60. A member of Depeche Mode for more than 40 years, he produced music with the band from its formation in 1980 until the band’s most recent album in 2017. In a Tweet issued by Depeche Mode today, the band said “We are shocked and filled with overwhelming sadness with the untimely passing of our dear friend, family member, and bandmate.” In 2020, Fletcher, along with present and former Depeche Mode bandmates Dave Gahan, Martin Gore, Vince Clarke and Alan Wilder, were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the band’s pioneering role in the new wave and alternative rock genres.
