The animal shelter in Napanee is looking to help some American visitors.
The local team has announced that Ontario SPCA Animal Shelters have welcomed 25 dogs today from the United States. The dogs are from North Carolina and are looking for a fresh start.
Staff note that their partners south of the border have made sure the dogs are vaccinated and screened. Many of the dogs are already fixed.
Napanee is home to one of a dozen Ontario SPCA Animal Centres. The SPCA has welcomed over 150 dogs from the United States so far this year as apart of an ongoing effort to help shelters at capacity.
“Every animal deserves a loving home and we do what we can to help make that happen when partnering animal organizations reach out for help. In addition to finding loving homes for animals here in Ontario, we also help our animal friends south of the border when we have the capacity at our animal centres,” said Esther McCutcheon, Manager of the Napanee Centre, in a statement.
