There has been a development about the Nestlé plant in Trenton.
The company announced this time last year that they were shutting down operations in Trenton. The location had been up and running since the early 1970s, and Nestlé expanded the operation in 2010 and 2011. The plant was officially closed last month.
Nestlé has released a joint statement today with the new owners of the Trenton plant, Ed Lamers and Ewart McLaughlin.
The Tillsonburg food company is looking to expand their operation to Trenton.
“This purchase will provide us with the opportunity to expand our Canadian operations and offer products and services that will be highly complementary to our existing operations,” said Ed Lamers, in a statement.
The team has not announced if they will be hiring.
President and CEO of Nestlé Canada, John Carmichael added in a statement that they are happy that a Canadian company is taking over the property.
“We are grateful for the contributions of both our former and current employees. The talented people of Quinte region will forever be part of our Nestlé story,” said Carmichael.
