The founder and artistic director of the Quinte Ballet School of Canada has died.
The Belleville school has announced in a statement, that Brian Scott passed away Tuesday. He was 92.
Over the course of his career as a dancer, Scott performed with the English National Ballet and the National Ballet of Canada.
He moved to Belleville in 1972 after retiring as a dancer due to a knee injury.
Scott came to the region to help start the Quinte Dance Centre and the Quinte Ballet Guild. The organization eventually evolved into the Quinte Ballet School of Canada. Their home on Palmer Road opened in 2002. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the local school.
The Quinte Ballet School of Canada is asking graduates and former students of Scott’s to share photos and memories through their Facebook page.
