
91X has teamed up with Volunteer Information Quinte to share all the volunteer opportunities in Hastings and Prince Edward counties.

Here is how you can help this week:
- Quinte Ribfest is returns with two events this year! The first Ribfest of the year is this weekend at Centennial Park in Quinte West. A second Ribfest will be held at West Zwicks Park in Belleville August 19, 20, 21st. Volunteers are needed still needed to help out with the second event. Folks are needed to work the front gate, tasting tent, Kid’s zone, to sell raffle tickets, and for the clean-up crew. Smart Serve volunteers are also needed to assist in the bar area.
- The Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation needs helpers at the John Smylie Classic Golf Tournament on August 12. It’s at the Oak Hills Golf Course. Volunteers will monitor holes-in-one, scoring and assist with contests along the course. Training will be provided.
- The Museums of Prince Edward County have some unique volunteer opportunities at five of its locations in the county: Front-desk receptions and hosts are needed at some of the museums. Several volunteers will get a chance to dress in period costume and deliver programming. The museums in need of volunteers are: Macaulay House, the Ameliasburgh Heritage Village, Wellington Heritage Museum, Mariner’s Park Museum, and the Rose House Museum.
- The Tim Horton’s Smile Cookie Campaign is back from September 19 to 25. The event supports the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation. Volunteers are needed to help with decorating cookies at each local Tim Horton’s location. This is a great opportunity for high school students who are looking to check off their volunteer hours.
- Quinte Conservation is currently seeking volunteers to assist with their 75 Anniversary Artisan Market Fundraiser. Duties include supporting committee with various components such as silent action items, setup and teardown, traffic control and crowd control. This will be an outdoor event.
- Heart of Hastings Hospice provides support for those at the end of their life, and those grieving loved ones. The team is looking for volunteers to help in the Madoc, Marmora, Stirling and Tweed areas. Volunteers are needed at both the Residential Hospice and for home visits. Heart of Hastings Hospice is also looking for board members and those who can support the organization with office duties, building maintenance and fundraising.
- Highland Shores Children’s Aid is seeking volunteer drivers who reside in the Marmora to Tweed corridor, and Picton or Bloomfield area. Volunteers are needed to assist staff and foster parents with the safe transportation of the children and adults. Drivers are needed Monday to Friday and occasional weekends. The Society pays volunteer drivers a mileage rate and covers incidental expenses.
- Abigail’s is looking for people to help with their Babies and Beyond Program on Thursday afternoons. Duties include setting-up activities and helping to organize.
- The Alternative’s for Women team is looking for community members to assist in a number of roles. Tasks include driving around Prince Edward County, sorting and packaging donations and assisting with events.
- Community Care South Hastings is currently seeking volunteers for their volunteer driving program. Volunteers provide door-to-door transportation to individuals both local and long distance. Mileage reimbursements are provided. Orientation and training provided. Various schedules offered. They are also seeking volunteers to deliver Meals on Wheels to seniors Monday through Friday. Hours are from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. You must have your own vehicle.
- VON HNPE is looking for people to visit clients in need of some company. The visits are designed to support and encourage clients to live active and independent lives. Orientation and training provided.
- The John Howard Society is looking for some help in their Charity café located at the courthouse. Volunteers will work as a barista in the café. Shifts are available in both the morning and afternoons. The proceeds support youth employment programming.
