The Municipal Election was held last night across Ontario. Polls closed at 8 p.m., but were extended in Prince Edward County until 8:30 a.m. due to some issues. Here is an overview of the unofficial results to date.
Belleville:
Neil Ellis is back as the Mayor of Belleville. He previously served two terms as Mayor before moving on to become the MP for the Bay of Quinte. Ellis beat incumbent Mitch Panciuk last night by 3,500 votes. Kyle Thomson, who was the other candidate in the mayoral race, finished in third with just over 600 votes.
City staff issued the following statement from Panciuk this morning:
“Our democratic process has been renewed once again and voters have chosen the next Mayor and Council for the next four years. I want to congratulate Mayor-Elect Neil Ellis and the eight successful City Council candidates. We are grateful to all those who put their names forward and raised important issues that require attention.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to have served as Mayor these past four years. Our term in office will be remembered for historic progress and achievements and we are leaving the city in excellent shape to deal with the challenges and opportunities of the future. I thank all members of Council, city staff and members of the public for their support and assistance over these past four years.
“Over the coming days and weeks, I will cooperate and facilitate with a successful transition for the new Mayor and Council. Their success will be essential for the city moving forward and I will do everything I can to give them an excellent start.”

- Ward One: Tyler Allsopp, Garnet Thompson, Chris Malette, Sean Kelly, Lisa Ann Chatten, Barbara Enright-Miller,
- Ward Two: Paul Carr, Kathryn Ann Brown.

Quinte West:
Incumbent Jim Harrison has been re-elected for a third term as the Mayor of Quinte West. Harrison received just over 5,600 votes, about 990 more than former Quinte West councillor Karen Sharpe, who finished in second. The third candidate in the race, Claudor Du-Lude received just over 100 votes. He has run unsuccessfully for the seat in the last four elections.

- Ward 2 / Sidney: Egerton Boyce, Shelley Stedall, Terry Cassidy, Don Kuntze
- Ward 3 / Murray: Jim Alyea, David McCue
- Ward 4 / Frankford: Lynda Reid

Prince Edward County:
Steve Ferguson will continue to be the Mayor in the county. He won by 1,400 votes over second-place finisher Terry Shortt.

- Brighton: Brain Ostrander will continue to serve as the Mayor.
- Stirling-Rawdon: Bob Mullin was re-elected.
- Tyendinaga Township: Claire Kennelly will be the new Reeve.
- Tweed: Don Degenova is the new Mayor.
- Peterborough: Former MPP and city councillor Jeff Leal, is the now the Mayor.
- Cobourg: John Henderson lost his seat as Mayor to newcomer Lucas Cleveland.
