91X has teamed up with Volunteer Information Quinte to share all the volunteer opportunities in Hastings and Prince Edward counties.
Listen to the VIQ Update on 91X, every Thursday at 9:40 am and Saturday at 7:40 am.
Here is how you can help this week:
- Community Care Central Hastings needs volunteer drivers for its meal delivery program. Drivers deliver meals on Tuesdays and Thursdays. While doing so, volunteers check on the health and well-being on clients and report any concerns to the program coordinator.
- The Central Hastings Support Network and the Victorian Order of Nurses in Quinte West also need drivers to take clients to and from appointments. Locations may be local or long distance including Kingston or Toronto. Drivers must have their own vehicle and will be reimbursed through a pre-determined fee.
- Quinte Validity and Social Support is a non-profit agency that serves adults with developmental disabilities. It needs energetic community-minder individuals to join its board of directors as it begins a new phase of operations. Applications are being accepted for review. Candidates will be invited to attend a board meeting for an interview.
- Community Care Prince Edward County is looking to fill several volunteer positions. They need a receptionist at their office in Picton and for their foot care clinic in Wellington. Computer experience is a must, but training and orientation will be provided. The agency also needs volunteers at its Thrift Shop in Picton. Online orientation is offered. Volunteers will work alongside a mentor in the shop.
- The Belleville and Quinte West Community Health Centres need volunteers to help with a range of programs and services designed to improve the well-being of people in the community. If you have ideas for activities for their programs in nutrition, physical fitness, or social interaction, this might be an ideal opportunity for you.
- The Community Development Council of Quinte is seeking a volunteer to coordinate its Good Food Box program in Frankford. This person will take orders and cash payments, and organize food box pick-up at the Frankford United Church. This time commitment is about one hour each week and three hours on pick-up days.. which is the fourth Tuesday of every month.
- If you’re a home cook who’d like to put your skills to work… Catherine’s Kitchen needs helpers for its community lunch program. Volunteers assist in food preparation, serving, and clean-up. Shifts are from 8:45 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Monday to Thursday. Catherine’s Kitchen is located at 24 Dundas Street West in Trenton.
- If you love reading… there’s a great opportunity for you at the Links To Learning Resource Centre. It’s located on Victoria Avenue in Belleville. They need volunteers for the one-to-one reading program. It runs Monday and Tuesday from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. High school students looking for community volunteer hours are welcome to apply.
- The Habitat For Humanity Re-Store is looking for help at its shop on Bell Boulevard in Belleville. Folks are needed to prepare donated merchandise, create floor displays, customer service, and the load and unload donations.
