Last night (March 13) was the big Juno Awards ceremony in Edmonton!
Group of the Year seen the likes of Metric, the Reklaws, Billy Talent and Arcade Fire nominated, with Arkells winning! Their new album last year was Blink Twice.
For Alternative Album of the Year, Alvvays took home the Juno with their new album that dropped last October, Blue Rev! That includes songs like Pharmacist, Easy On Your Own, Belinda Says and more! It’s their second Juno for Alternative Album of the Year, following their win back in 2018 for their second album, Antisocialites.
That leaves us with Rock Album of the Year, seeing Alexisonfire’s Otherness win the big Juno! This marks their third Juno, following New Group of the Year in 2005 and Group of the Year in 2007! Alexisonfire beat out the likes of Billy Talent’s Crisis of Faith, Three Days Grace’s Explosions, Nickelback’s Get Rollin’, and The Sheepdogs’ Outta Sight.
Finally, Belleville and Napanee’s own Avril Lavigne lost a few awards to The Weeknd, but did end up winning the TikTok Juno Fan Choice award. It’s her ninth Juno Award and one of many in her massive list of awards! She must be running out of shelf space!
