The snow will continue to melt up north this week as Environment Canada is calling for temperatures around 20 Celsius all week.
Quinte Conservation continues to have a Flood Warning in place for the Moira and Napanee watersheds.
The City of Belleville is asking residents in low-lying and flood-prone areas to be proactive. Residents are being asked to make sure their sump pumps are working, keep ditches and drains clean, and secure outdoor items that are close to the shorelines.
Residents can access sand and sandbags from the City by visiting the Public Works lot at 31 Wallbridge Crescent. Those who are heading over are being asked to call the team first at 613-968-6482 ext. 8. during after hours and on the weekends. City staff note in a statement, that in an event of an emergency where a home is in immediate danger of flooding and people can’t protect themselves, then they should contact Belleville Fire and Emergency Services at 613-962-2010 ext. 0.
