The Quinte region will mark Earth Day with a number of events.
- The 23rd annual Quinte Trash Bash is happening throughout the day. Residents in Belleville, Quinte West, Prince Edward County, and Tyendinaga Township are encouraged to get outside and work together to clean up parks, roadsides, and public spaces. Each community will have some supplies to hand out and designated locations to put all the trash. To learn how you can get involved, visit their website.
- During Trash Bash, Quinte Waste Solutions will have a free electronic waste drop-off located at the Quinte Exhibition & Raceway. The site will be open at the old fairgrounds from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- As apart of Quinte Trash Bash, Prince Edward County will honour a late resident who used to clean up downtown Picton all year round. The Owen Jones Memorial Clean-up Day is also on Saturday. Residents are encouraged to sign up online. Supply kids will be available in advance at 115 Lake Street in Picton, and at the drop-off locations on the day of the event. Drop-off locations: Picton Home Hardware (13544 Loyalist Parkway), Midtown Brewery parking lot (266 Wellington Main Street), 15 Coleman Street (Ameliasburgh), next to the works garage, and 2179 County Road 17 (Milford).
- An Earth Day March will be happening in Belleville on Saturday at 2 p.m. Residents are encouraged to dress up as their favourite wetland creature and meet everyone at the Herchimer Boat Launch. The march will take people along the Shirley Langer Trail. Organizers say that the Belleville marsh is currently a Provincially Significant Wetland, but it could lose its status if it is reassessed under Bill 23.
