June is Pride Month and there is lots happening in the Quinte region!
This week on “In Touch With Quinte,” Sherry Ackles, one of the co-chairs with Bay of Quinte Pride, joined us first to chat about what’s happening in Belleville.
Nina Irvine later joined us to talk about Greater Napanee Pride tomorrow.
Here is a list of events going on:
- Sunday, June 4 – Interfaith Service at the Trenton United Church. (3 pm)
- Monday, June 5 – Flag Raising at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre with Mayor Ellis (4 pm)
- Tuesday, June 6 – Say Out Loud at Boston Pizza (5 pm)
- Wednesday, June 7 – Bowling Night at Quinte Bowl hosted by The Difference (7 pm)
- Friday, June 9 – Drag Trivia Night at Scalliwag Toys (7 pm)
- Saturday, June 10 – Pride Parade starts at 11 a.m. Community and allies will be leaving the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board Office off of Highway 2. They will make their way to West Zwick’s Park for Pride in the Park. A Pride After Dark event will take place at 8 p.m. at The Smokin’ 1116 Bistro & Bar.
- Sunday, June 11 – Interfaith Service at St. Mark’s United Church in Belleville (noon)
- Monday, June 19 – Bay of Quinte Pride Fundraiser at Boston Pizza (5)
- The second annual event for the community will take place this Saturday, June 3rd. The Pride March will loop around Springside Park starting at 11 a.m. Vendors and a kids zone will be set up after in the park from noon to 4 p.m.
- The Pride Stage will featuring Drag Storytime at 12:30 p.m., music by Lucas Silveria at 1:30 p.m. and an open stage with other artists just after 2 p.m.
- “Pride in the Country” at the Strathcona Paper Centre will by for all ages from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. following a 19+ show at 8 p.m.
Tyendinaga Pride:
- Friday, June 2 will feature a dinner and comedy show at the Community Centre.
- Saturday, June 3rd is the fourth annual Car Parade from Centennial Park in Deseronto to the administration building. The parade will start at 10 a.m. and will be followed by games and a lunch at the Sports Complex.
