The Belleville Sports Hall of Fame has announced a new format this year for the High School Athlete of the Year Awards.
A separate ceremony will take place for high school students instead of being combined with the full induction ceremony later this year.
Student athletes will be celebrated on Monday, June 26. The ceremony at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre will take place at 6:30 p.m.
The committee has announced in a statement, that the Belleville High School Athlete of the Year Award will recognize top male and female athletes from eight local high schools.
“We are thrilled to introduce this new format for the High School Athlete of the Year ceremony. We believe in recognizing and encouraging youth achievement in sport. By separating the High School Athlete award from the Belleville Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony, we are able to give young athletes the recognition they deserve for their hard work and dedication to their sport,” said Ian Press, Chair of the Volunteer Committee.
