The power of community really shines through in the best of times and the worst of times.
As we continue to deal with some unpredictable weather, many community groups are rallying everyone together as we get ready to enjoy some summer events.
Here is the Volunteer Information Quinte Update for this week:
- There will be two Quinte Ribfest events this year! Volunteers are needed for the first event in Quinte West from June 16th to 18th. Big Brother Big Sisters are looking for people who could help with the tables, wrist bands, sell raffle tickets, and monitoring the licensed bar area. They also need people with their Smart Serve to help out behind the bar. Drivers are also needed to safely transport people to the venue.
- The Enrichment Centre is currently seeking volunteers to assist with gardening. Volunteers would be responsible for the cleaning and upkeep of their two memorial gardens.
- Gleaners Food Bank is looking for people to help in their garden, with watering, planting and weeding.
- Prince Edward County Women’s Institute Arts & Craft Show will take place in Picton on August 3rd. The team is looking for people to help volunteer with setup and tear down. Students are welcome to join us.
- The Belleville Chamber of Commerce is also looking for people to help with summer and fall events. A number of positions are available, from the front entrance, to set up and event management. Training is provide
- If you ever wanted to be a mascot, now is your chance. The Belleville General Hospital Foundation is looking for someone to be Dr. Max the Moose. The friendly mascot travels to events and fundraisers across the quinte region. Bookings for Dr. Max the Moose could take place anytime of year, and are often outside.
- The Museums of Prince Edward County have some unique volunteer opportunities at five of its locations in the county: Front-desk receptions and hosts are needed at some of the museums. Several volunteers will get a chance to dress in period costume and deliver programming. The museums in need of volunteers are: Macaulay House, the Ameliasburgh Heritage Village, Wellington Heritage Museum, Mariners Park Museum, and the Rose House Museum.
Volunteer Information Quinte refers volunteers to more than 275 agencies throughout Hastings and Prince Edward counties.
