One boil water advisory has lifted, as some new ones have been put in place.
Prince Edward County announced in a statement last night, that the boil water advisory for residents in Wellington on the Lake has lifted. The advisory was put in place Thursday for the private water source. The rest of the water in Wellington was never impacted.
However, Prince Edward County and Quinte West have issued more boil water advisories.
The municipalities have announced that due to a water main break in Trenton, the following areas are now under boil water advisories:
- Trenton, west of the Trent River and in the Murray Ward.
- Carrying Place, Kingfisher Cover, Consecon, and Prince Edward Estates.
Highlighted areas in the county rely on Trenton’s water. Residents are being asked to make sure they bring water to a rapid boil for at least one minute before consuming. Those seeking more information are being asked to contact Hastings and Prince Public Health at 613-966-5500.
The bulk water stations in Wellington, Picton, Trenton, and Frankford/ Batawa are unavailable during this time.
Residents are also being asked to avoid non-essential tasks like watering the lawn and gardens.
*8 a.m. Update: The City of Quinte West has confirmed that as of 5 a.m., the water has been shut off in the north west part of Trenton as crews are on scene. Drinking water, showers and washrooms are available at the Duncan McDonald Community Centre today. The site will be open until 11 p.m. for all those impacted.
*Wednesday, July 19 AM update: Boil Water Advisory still in effect. Leak temporarily fixed.
