Movies fans will get a chance to see films from the Toronto International Film Festival.
Here is the full statement from the Tweed and Company Theatre:
“Tweed and Company Theatre is bringing back a longstanding, highly popular program again this year – but it’s got some exciting new upgrades. Rebranded as the TIFF Film Circuit Bancroft, it’s the return of movies to the Village Playhouse throughout the fall of 2023 into winter/spring 2024. They requested community feedback about last year’s structure and have used what they’ve learned to make the content more enticing, pricing more accessible, and enhance the overall movie-going experience.
In association with the Toronto International Film Festival, the program will be folded into Tweed and Company’s regular season programming, allowing them to present the most thrilling lineup of films yet! This year’s selection will include independent films and popular new releases from around the world as well as right here at home. Additionally, there will be more comedies to complement captivating dramas and films for all age groups.
Another major change: showings are moving to Thursdays! Typically the second Thursday of each month running from September until April, there will be two showings, one at 2 p.m. and another at 7 p.m. There will also now be popcorn sold at the Village Playhouse concessions during film showings!
Kicking off the fall movies on Thursday, September 14th is Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret. Based on the ultra-popular adolescent book by Judy Bloom and starring Rachel McAdams, Kathy Bates, and Abby Ryder Fortson, this coming-of-age story will tug at your heartstrings and make you laugh out loud. Then, You Hurt My Feelings will be playing on Thursday, October 12th. Starring Seinfeld’s Julie Louis-Dreyfus and Tobias Menzies (Netflix’s The Crown), see how a couple navigate the joys and betrayals of a longstanding marriage. BlackBerry will be at the theatre on November 16th. A Canadian film about the creation, success, and failure of the making of BlackBerry smartphones, watch as this company goes from system-breaking popularity to disastrous downfall. Then just in time for the festive season, catch The Man Who Invented Christmas on December 7th. Fun for the whole family, find out how Charles Dickens changed the course of the holidays forever through the creation of his most famous story, A Christmas Carol. Stay tuned for an announcement of the winter/spring films coming soon!
Their new ticket prices are ultra affordable, with adult tickets costing just $13.00 all in and youth tickets $7.00 all in – meaning HST is already built into those prices! PLUS, there are Movie Passes available that make individual tickets even cheaper. For adults, there’s an 8 Movie Pass for $80 and a 4 Movie Pass for just $45. Meanwhile, an 8 Movie Youth Pass is just $40, and a 4 Movie Youth Pass is $25! All films are on sale now.
Tweed and Company is proud to bring high-quality films directly to the Bancroft community.
