Today Loyalist College’s Shark Tank Pub was flooded with students interested in all the support and services Loyalist and the community have to offer.
The event which ran from 11 am to 2 pm acted as an opportunity for students to get the information they need about in and around campus all in one place.
Many Loyalist services such as the Student Health Centre came out, offering up free health and wellness items including snacks, stress balls, and personal hygiene products.
The new FailSafe facility displayed numerous student made projects, all 3D printed in house. They used the fair as an opportunity to jumpstart a college esports team. “We’re letting the students organize it,” says IT Specialist, Chris Gorsline. The hope is that in one year’s time Loyalist and its students will be ready to enter provincial and country wide post-secondary esports competitions.
Other community organizations were present as well. Be Prepared‘s booth hosted all forms of first aid and CPR training dummies that were equally informative and uncanny. Their private courses and training are useful for students in healthcare programs looking to be certified.
Quinte Sports & Wellness Centre pointed sporty students in the right direction with their lifeguard and swim instructor courses or towards their drop-in sports.
The Loyalist College Service Fair is just one of many events aimed at helping students become comfortable and informed with the community. Future student events can be found on the Loyalist Life calendar.
