List of service changes over the holidays in Quinte

The Holiday Break has arrived!

Loyalist College in Belleville is now closed to the public. We have some magical elves letting us in to get ready for the Top 91 Countdown of 2023. Loyalist College will re-open on January 3rd as classes start back up again on January 9th.

 

The following is a list of statements from municipalities outlining service changes over the holidays.

Belleville:

  • City Hall – Open from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Dec. 22 and 29. Closed on Dec. 25, 26 and Jan. 1.
  • Quinte Sports & Wellness Centre – Special schedule from Dec. 22 to Jan. 7. For more details, visit: QSWC.ca.
  • Transit – Service ends at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 24. No service on Dec. 25, 26 or Jan 1.
  • Leaf & Yard Waste Depot – Closed for the season.
  • Thurlow Landfill – No change to regular public hours. Closed Dec. 26 for industrial use.
  • Belleville Public Library – Closed on Dec. 24, 25, 26 and Jan. 1. Closes early on Dec. 31 at 4 p.m.

There will be no changes to curbside garbage, green bin, recycling and bulky items collection. Curbside Christmas tree collection will run from Jan. 2 through Jan. 8. The collection schedule can be found at Belleville.ca/YardWaste.

 

 

 

Prince Edward County:

Administrative offices:

  • Friday, December 22: Administrative offices open, 8:30 am – 12 pm.
  • Monday, December 25 and Tuesday, December 26: Administrative offices closed. All necessary services will be operating as required.
  • Wednesday, December 27 – Friday, December 29: Administrative offices open, 8:30 am – 5 pm.
  • Monday, January 1: Administrative offices closed. All necessary services will be operating as required.

The municipality will continue to deliver essential services every day throughout the holiday season. If you have an urgent inquiry when administrative offices are closed or after-hours, please call:

  • 613.967.8777 for road, water or sewer emergencies
  • Prince Edward County Fire & Rescue is open 24/7 over the holiday season, including statutory holidays. Dial 911 for emergencies / 613.476.2345 for non-emergencies.

Garbage and recycling collection:

  • Curbside garbage and green bin pickup service will occur according to the regular schedule.
  • Recycling collection will follow the regular schedule, except for residents who receive the pickup service on Mondays. Recycling will be collected on Saturday, December 23 instead of Monday, December 25 and on Saturday, December 30 instead of Monday, January 1.
  • Environmental 360 Solutions and Quinte Waste Services remind residents to have their garbage, green bin, and properly sorted blue boxes out to the curb by 7 am to ensure pickup. Click here to view the recycling and garbage collection schedules.

Landfill and transfer stations:

  • The landfill and transfer stations’ operating hours will run as scheduled Saturday, December 23 and Saturday, December 30. The Picton landfill will operate as scheduled Wednesday, December 27.

Recreation Facilities:
The Prince Edward Community Centre and the Wellington and District Community Centre will be closed on Monday, December 25, Tuesday, December 26, and Monday, January 1.

Public skating and youth shinny ice times are available throughout the holidays. Click here to view the schedule. Please note that there is no community ice rental available from December 24 to January 2 due to prior bookings.
