Here is the VIQ Update for this week:
*VON Hastings, Northumberland Prince Edward is looking for people who can help seniors in Quinte West. Volunteers are needed to help out with lawn care, garden work and snow removal. As well as Odd jobs around the house. Clients are matched with workers and pay them directly.
*The Alzheimer Society is launching an In-Home Activation program. Volunteers are required in all areas of Hastings and Prince Edward Counties, including Brighton. The time commitment is an hour and a half for 12-weeks at a time. As volunteers receive training and support those living with dementia.
*The Prince Edward Community Care for Seniors Association is seeking volunteer drivers who can provide door-to-door transportation service to medical appointments and essential shopping. Re-imbursement is provided.
*There are a few options with the Prince Edward Learning Centre. The team is looking for people to help out with their Good Food Market. Duties include setting up and organizing the weekly market, acting as a personal shopper or delivery driver.
*The Prince Edward Learning Centre is also looking for tutors who can work with adult students one on one. Subjects include reading, writing, numeracy, and communication.
*Prince Edward Learning Centre is seeking volunteers for their Income Tax Program. Volunteers will be assisting people with filing basic income taxes. Volunteers received 5 to 10 hours of training in February. As the three-hour shifts per week run from March to June.
*If you like to drive, the Canadian Cancer Society could use you in the Madoc, Marmora and Tweed area. Volunteers Pick up clients from their homes and drive them to and from cancer-related treatment, supportive care and follow up appointments.
*Community Care Central Hastings is seeking volunteers to deliver meals to seniors in their homes weekdays from 11 a.m. to 1p.m. Volunteers must have their own vehicle, time commitment can be weekly, bi weekly or monthly.
*Drivers are also needed to help out the Central Hastings Support Network. They need people who can drive clients to appointments locally and as far as Kingston and Toronto. Drivers are reimbursed through a predetermined fee.
*Multiple agencies require volunteers to assist at Bingos held at the Lions Hall in Belleville, Bingos are held daily with matinee and evening programs, typical shift are three hours. All funds raised support programing in agencies throughout community.
*The Regent Theatre in Picton is looking for people to help around the theater with odd jobs.
Volunteer Information Quinte refers volunteers to more than 275 agencies throughout Hastings and Prince Edward counties.
