Belleville Police have released the following statement today.
“Belleville police are looking to the public to assist in identifying anyone involved earlier this week in vandalizing a park developed by the community to support those with special needs.
City staff alerted officers on Monday after locating a building at the ‘Field of Ability’ along Sidney Street had been defaced by someone yielding a can of spray-paint sometime over the weekend.
Staff provided police with CCTV footage and a still image of a suspect caught in the act of painting a couple of roll-up doors at the site.
The facility, which is located at the Parkdale Veterans Park, is unique and marked an important milestone in the city’s history in 2022 when it opened. The facility provides a rubberized field to welcome those with special needs for games of baseball.
Anyone with information about this incident or the identity of anyone involved is asked to contact Const. Steven Genore at sgenore@bellevilleps.ca or Crime Stoppers at 613- 969-8477.”
