The City of Belleville has released the following statement this week.
The City of Belleville’s Glanmore National Historic Site, part of the Community Services Department, is celebrating May is Museum Month and International Museum Day with an open house and offering free admission on May 18, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
On this special day, Glanmore is one of more than 37,000 museums worldwide celebrating International Museum Day which recognizes the pivotal role museums play in learning, innovation, and knowledge sharing!
On May 18, 2024, you can enjoy complimentary admission to the historic house, explore the restored rooms and view the special exhibit Stitched Together, featuring 30 heritage quilts from Glanmore’s Regional Collection. Throughout your visit there are opportunities to play old-fashioned games, make a simple toy to take home at the Creation Station and try your hand at quilting on a traditional quilt frame.
To coincide with International Museum Day the Friends of Glanmore are hosting a fundraising plant sale on Glanmore’s grounds from 8AM to 12 Noon on May 18, 2024. Be sure to arrive early to enjoy the best selection of plants and garden items. A silent auction of unique artisan items will be available to bid on featuring artwork and beautiful handicrafts made by museum volunteers. Funds raised from the silent auction and plant sale will go to the Friends of Glanmore National Historic Site in support of museum projects.
