
Local residents are off to the ballot box.
A by-election in Bay of Quinte riding has been called, following the resignation of MPP Todd Smith last month.
Seven candidates are on the ballot:
- Tyler Allsopp – Ontario Progressive Conservatives
- Lori Borthwick – Green Party
- Sean Kelly – Liberals
- Amanda Robertson – NDP
- Margaret Schuler – New Blue Party
- Mark Snow – Libertarian
- John Turmel – Independent
91X has offered all candidates a chance to share their platforms on “In Touch With Quinte.”
Here are our first two interviews recorded earlier this week with Lori Borthwick and Amanda Robertson.
Voter information:
*Voter information cards for Bay of Quinte residents have been mailed out to those registered.
*Those who do not receive a card can still vote. Everyone is encouraged to keep their information up to date by visiting at vreg.registertovoteon.ca.
*People have until September 9th to update information, so that a voter information card can be mailed out in time.
*Voters can also use the Elections Ontario App, create an account, and access a digital voter information card.
*Election day is Thursday, September 19th.
*People can vote early up until September 18th at the returning office or go through advance voting at other locations.
Key dates for voting:
*August 21 to September 13 – Apply to vote via mail by September 13th at 6 p.m. Apply online or download the application at elections.on.ca.
*August 22 to September 18 – Head to a returning office to vote up until September 18th at 6 p.m. Details at elections.on.ca.
*September 5 – Candidate nomination period officially closes at 2 p.m. Find out more at elections.on.ca.
*September 8 to 13 – Advance voting at a variety of locations. Details at voterinformationservice.elections.on.ca.
*September 8 to 19 – Access assistive voting technology at a returning office.
*September 19 – Cast your ballot on election day between 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Head to voterinformationservice.elections.on.ca to find your assigned voting location.
