Adjustment to Prince Edward County’s holiday notice

The County of Prince Edward facilities and services will be impacted by the holidays as outlined below:

Administrative offices

• Tuesday, December 24: Administrative offices open, 8:30 am – 12 pm.
• Wednesday, December 25 and Thursday, December 26: Administrative offices closed. All necessary services will be operating as required.
• Friday, December 27, Monday, December 30 and Tuesday, December 31: Administrative offices open, 8:30 am – 5 pm.
• Wednesday, January 1: Administrative offices closed. All necessary services will be operating as required.

The municipality will continue to deliver essential services every day throughout the holiday season. If you have an urgent inquiry when administrative offices are closed or after-hours, please call:

• 613.967.8777 for road, water or sewer emergencies
• Prince Edward County Fire & Rescue is open 24/7 over the holiday season, including statutory holidays. Dial 911 for emergencies / 613.476.2345 for non-emergencies.

Garbage and recycling collection

• Please note: an earlier version of this notice indicated that there would be no change to curbside garbage and green bin pickup service. However, for residents who receive the pickup service on Wednesdays, collection will occur on Saturday, December 28 instead of Wednesday, December 25 and on Saturday, January 4 instead of Wednesday, January 1.

• Recycling collection will follow the regular schedule, except for residents who receive the pickup service on Wednesdays. Recycling will be collected on Saturday, December 28 instead of Wednesday, December 25 and on Saturday, January 4 instead of Wednesday, January 1. Click here to learn more.
• Environmental 360 Solutions and Quinte Waste Services remind residents to have their garbage, green bin, and properly sorted blue boxes out to the curb by 7 am to ensure pickup. Click here to view the recycling and garbage collection schedules.

Landfill and transfer stations

• The landfill and transfer stations’ operating hours will run as scheduled Saturday, December 21 and Saturday, December 28. The Picton landfill will be closed Wednesday, December 25 and open on Wednesday, January 1.

Recreation Facilities

The Prince Edward Community Centre and the Wellington and District Community Centre will remain open regular hours over the holidays with the exception of:

• Tuesday, December 24:
  • PECC: 8 am to 12 pm
  • WDCC: 7 am to 11 am
• Wednesday, December 25: Closed
• Thursday, December 26: Closed
• Wednesday, January 1: Closed

Public skating will be available on Tuesday, December 24 from 9 am to 11:30 am at the Prince Edward Community Centre and from 8 am to 10:30 am at the Wellington and District Community Centre.

County Transit

County Transit will not operate on Wednesday, December 25, Thursday, December 26 or Wednesday, January 1.

County Transit’s scheduled route service will end in Belleville at 5:55 pm on Tuesday, December 24 and Tuesday, December 31.
