Holiday hampers, festive events, and fundraisers would not be possible without the dedication of volunteers. Local volunteers in the Bay of Quinte region are the definition of the best part of the holiday season.

Here is the VIQ Update for this week.
*The National Air Force Museum of Canada is looking for help. The team needs volunteers to work at the gift shop and greet visitors at the museum in Trenton.
*If you like to drive, then Community Care Central Hastings could use your assistance. They are looking for volunteers to deliver meals to seniors in their homes, weekdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Volunteers must have their own vehicle. The time commitment can be weekly, biweekly or monthly.
*Habitat For Humanity ReStore in Belleville needs support. The team is looking for people to help put merchandise out for sale, clean, and sort donations.
*Victim Services is seeking on-site support volunteers. Volunteers are on call for a 12-hour period to Emergency Services in Hastings, Prince Edward, Lennox & Addington Counties. This service is offered in the community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Volunteers provide on scene emotional and practical assistance and referrals to community agencies. Volunteers complete an online module, which is roughly 40 hours, followed by in-class training.
*Bridge Street United Church in downtown Belleville, is looking for people to help out at their lunch program. Servers are needed on Sundays and Tuesdays from 11 a.m to 1:30 p.m. Volunteers are also required on Sunday to assist with greeting guests, and monitoring the area.
*Hospice Prince Edward is seeking volunteers to provide support to individuals and their families as they face end of life care. Volunteer positions take place in either the individual’s home or the 3-bed Hospice Residence. Volunteers are provided a training program.
*Food For learning is seeking volunteers at various schools throughout Hastings and Prince Edward. Duties include shopping for the snack and meals programs, and serving the food to students. The program runs from September to June. Orientation and training is provided. Volunteer once a week or month.
*Gleaners Food Bank is in urgent need of volunteer drivers to assist with picking up donations, delivering food to clients and other agencies. Volunteers must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Time commitment varies as the programs run Monday to Friday.
*The Community Development Council of Quinte is in need of volunteer drivers and driving assistants for the Good Food Box program. This position includes some heavy lifting, driving a cube van once a month, the second and fourth Tuesday.
*Trenton Care and Share Food Bank is seeking volunteers to assist in distributing food. Responsibilities include sorting of donations, packing hampers and restocking shelves. On-site training will be provided. You should be able to lift 30 pounds and be able to work in a fast paced environment.
*Community Living Quinte West is seeking volunteers to spend time with individuals and assist in running weekly bingo games.
*Pensioners Concerned is a volunteer non-profit organization. Their mandate is to prepare tax returns for low income individuals, seniors, and people with disabilities. They are looking for volunteers who are experienced with preparing simple income returns and who are familiar with tax software. The time commitment would be from Late February to April. A person can volunteer as little as one three hour shift a week.
*The Regent Theatre in downtown Picton is looking for some folks to help out with fof jobs. Volunteer duties include scanning tickets on event nights and helping people to their seats. High school students are welcome.
*The Prince Edward Learning Centre is currently seeking volunteers to assist with the Good Food Market. Duties include setting up the weekly market, organizing produce, greeting shoppers, and cleaning up after. They also need people to deliver food and shop.
Volunteer Information Quinte refers volunteers to more than 275 agencies throughout Hastings and Prince Edward counties.
