Quinte West has released the following statement this morning.
Visitors can now enjoy free two-hour on-street parking in downtown Trenton and Frankford, and unlimited free parking in municipal lots in Quinte West.
The City’s new parking program aims to help move short-stay, on-street traffic through the City’s downtown areas, while providing in-lot parking options for those who plan to stay longer at businesses and restaurants.
“The City’s new parking program is designed to provide convenient parking options that fit the different needs of residents and visitors,” says Carrie West, Supervisor of By-law and Enforcement. “Two-hour limits on downtown streets encourage turnover, directly benefiting local businesses by giving customers more access to prime parking spots. At the same time, unlimited free parking in municipal lots ensures there is space for those who need to stay longer.”
The new parking program takes effect today (Jan. 14, 2025) and offers a 30-day grace period until Feb. 21, 2025 during which warning notices will be issued on vehicles that park for more than two hours in the designated on-street areas in the downtown core.
Beginning Monday, Feb. 24, vehicles that park for more than two hours in the designated on-street areas will receive a warning notice, followed by a parking ticket.
With the roll out of its new parking program, the City has adopted the HotSpot parking management system to modernize the parking experience for both drivers and parking enforcement staff. The HotSpot system allows City By-law officers to more accurately record vehicle and parking details, and offers drivers convenient digital parking ticket payment options through the Hot Spot parking app.
Parking tickets can also continue to be paid in person at Quinte West City Hall and Frankford Municipal Office or by mail.
Residents are encouraged to plan ahead and review the City’s parking maps and information online. For more information about parking in Quinte West, visit quintewest.ca/parking.
