Belleville Downtown DocFest has released the following statement this morning.
We are thrilled to announce our upcoming Film Festival Saturday Night event at the Belleville Theatre Guild, featuring The Tragically Hip: No Dress Rehearsal (Part 1: Looking For A Place To Happen) and a Q&A with filmmaker Mike Downie and guest.
The Tragically Hip have come to represent the heart and spirit of Canada, expressing our joys and struggles through their music. Through The Hip, we all felt deeply seen, understood and celebrated. This powerful documentary by Gord’s brother, Mike Downie, tells the story of how a group of small-town friends came to resonate so deeply with Canadians and became an integral part of the fabric of Canadian music and culture.
This moving and heartfelt experience connects our audience with Mike Downie and guest as they share the journey of making this documentary. Experience the journey of The Tragically Hip and prepare to be profoundly touched by this intimate opportunity to connect on a personal level with our much beloved iconic Canadian legacy The Tragically Hip.
Half of the proceeds from the event ticket sales will go to support the Community Development Council’s programs and services that reduce poverty and improve the quality of life and health in our community. Community Development Council of Quinte https://www.cdcquinte.com/
